3D Design

Before touching any material, we design. Every project that comes into Plastisart goes through a 3D design phase on SolidWorks, whether it's a simple part or a complex multi-material assembly. This is not a formality ; it's what ensures the part will be right from the very first production run.

What is 3D design at Plastisart?

SolidWorks is the CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software our design office uses on every project. Starting from your specifications, a drawing, a sketch, or even just an idea, we model your part in three dimensions with all its dimensions, tolerances, and functional constraints.

This 3D model becomes the reference for the entire project: it is used to validate the geometry, anticipate assembly issues, generate CNC machining programs, and give you a realistic visualisation of the part before it goes into production.

Not to be confused with 3D printing: here, SolidWorks modelling serves our manufacturing processes, thermoforming, machining, plastic sheet fabrication, RIM injection. It is a precision tool, designed for industrial production.

What it means for your projects

The first benefit is visual validation before manufacturing. The final geometry, volumes, and assembly interfaces are all visible and adjustable upfront, before a single part is produced.

Working on the digital model also allows us to reduce correction cycles. Design issues are identified and resolved on the file, not on already-machined parts. This translates into a significant saving in time and budget across the project.

Finally, full digital continuity: the same SolidWorks model used for design feeds directly into our CNC machining centres. No information is lost between the design office and the workshop.

From design to finished part: our process

Our process always follows the same logic. We start by analysing your needs: part function, operating environment, assembly constraints, intended material. We then model in SolidWorks, integrating the manufacturing constraints of our process from the outset. Once the model is validated with you, we generate the machine programs and launch production.

What makes the difference is that our design office doesn't just draw — it designs with manufacturing in mind. A part intended for thermoforming is not designed the same way as a part for machining. This process expertise is built in from the very first sketch.

Why this is a real advantage for your projects

Many plastic subcontractors expect you to provide a finalised drawing. At Plastisart, we can start from much earlier in the process: a functional need, an envelope dimension, an assembly constraint.

Our design office supports you in defining the part itself, proposing technical solutions tailored to your actual constraints. This is particularly valuable for complex projects, parts with evolving geometry, or co-design developments.

The result: controlled lead times, parts that conform from the first production run, and a single point of contact from design through to delivery.

3D design at Plastisart

At Plastisart, the design office has been an integral part of our manufacturing process for decades. Our engineers work on SolidWorks in direct coordination with the workshop, ensuring full consistency between the digital model and the produced part. Thermoforming, CNC machining, plastic sheet fabrication, RIM injection: every process has its own design rules, and our team knows them inside out.

Prototype or series run, simple part or multi-material assembly: our teams are here to turn your project into a real part, on time and within budget.
